So You Wanna Become A Copywriter?
Learn to copywrite
Copywriting is easily one of the most flexible side career you can have. It’s a ideal business if you want to have time for family and work from the comfort of your own home.
The earning potential is in the millions if you’re a truly top level talent. It takes a combination of talent and dedication to get to that level.
Now it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, you will need to spend a good portion of your life before you can earn a livable income.
All copywriters I knew spent years working in their free time to turn it into their full-time job. I heard of people doing it in half a year, where they can make barely enough to quit their main gig.
It may sound grueling, because working without pay is soul-draining,
but when you receive your first paycheck, you will be motivated to work even harder, and your quality of work will increase.
What Is Copywriting?
It is the process where you write to drive sales. If you’ve read product description, or received a email about a service, it is done by a copywriter.
Good copywriters get sales to convert, AKA SALES. Sales is the number 1 determining factor to the quality of a copywriter. People that can’t drive sales with their copywriting, are not good copywriters.
Their goal is to not be a salesmen
but to give readers a good reason to buy something as they read more from your copywriting.
How To Get Good With Copywriting
You may have a desire to get good with copywriting, but it’s not for everyone. People think that they are good at writing, or love writing can qualify to be a good copywriter.
You’re not only writing, you’re doing sales and marketing. Modern day marketing is different from Tv style aggressive product showboating. You need to make the writer feel more emotionally involved to purchase something.
Digital marketing is drowned out, everyone is trying to make money in every corner of the internet. So they will be hit with spam everyday, and have their guard up. So you have to play around their guard and guide them to their desire to buy whatever thing you’re trying to sell.
How Do People Learn Copywriting?
I used to be anti-book, because my idea of reading books is that, you can get this information on Google in a few seconds, vs spending a week reading a book for a small piece of information. I was wrong, more wrong than peanut butter and squid.
My philosophy on books changed ever since I read the Millionaire Fastlane, and I started picking up books to solve a specific problem ever since.
Books that professional writers stand behind by, are these Trifecta of copywriting
How To Get Clients
You may need to do free work for a while, and help clients with their copywriting business. You should expect your payments to have the opportunity to work with big name companies, so you can say you’ve work with Google, or you’ve done copywriting for Squarespace.
Having big clientele under your belt can build trust with strangers. LinkedIn was a nonexistent company, until it was purchased by Microsoft, and now it is the biggest career social media platform in the world.
In order to do this you should get a portfolio going. I would recommend you use Squarespace, and start building your portfolio as soon as possible, to help with SEO and get your website Google Indexed.
Now I help people with building side business, if you have family member you’re worried about getting laid off, send them this newsletter. I like looking at people succeed in life, do everyone a favor and help them by sharing this or just tell them to google Myth To Legend.
