Side Hustle: Cleaning Service

Cleaning Business Is Cheap To Start

If I hadn’t wrecked my back practicing Muay Thai, I honestly would have started cleaning business. There is no business in the world right now that offers decent pay, in the shortest amount of time. Every time I start a business it would take weeks to months before I can start generating revenue. It’s amazing how people will pay for cleaning services. I know a friend personally that is willing to pay 200 dollars to clean a single room, and when I saw the picture of her room it wasn’t anywhere near bad, she makes $30 an hour, and she’s willing to pay her 8 hour shift wage to have her room cleaned which takes an hour, that is crazy. Cleaning is one of the fastest money generating business you can start, with little resistance.

Get Customers Before You Start

It’s always better to get customers before spending money on equipment or supplies. Customers are influence by so many external factors you can’t guarantee that you can have one ready to pay you money when you start. Now your goal is to pick a name, ideally you want a simple easy to remember name and something relevant, that way if they read you business name they will think your business provides cleaning services. For example, “Local Cleaner” “Benny cleans” “Clean Team”. Something that people can think you’re a cleaning business, don’t get caught up with your emotions and use your dog’s name, because it provides zero context.

Then you start advertising, and this is where it gets interesting. People are always fangirling over digital marketing, however digital marketing is so drowned out with noise you as a small business with little to no budget for marketing will be crushed. So, the next best thing is to go back to where marketers aren’t present, back to old fashion style, posters on utility poles, with cut-out phone numbers for people to tear off. postcards to drop in mailboxes, and door hangers. Those forsaken marketing techniques are now the underrated marketing methods that can boost a small business.

Supplies

Once you get your first customers, it’s time to get supplies. Here is a list of necessary supplies to conduct core cleaning services.

  • Vacuum

  • mop/mop bucket

  • trash bags

  • Windex

  • all purpose surface cleaner

  • pack microfiber towels

That’s it, you can get all these in target or most large chain retailers, just make sure you buy after you get your first client.

Follow Up

Make sure your client is happy with your work, don’t get mad at criticism, listen and change it to their liking if you get another chance with the same client. Your best clients are repeating clients, they don’t need advertisement, they just need consistency. If they receive consistent service, you will receive consistent income.
