Modding Gaming Console At Your Leisure
Make gaming more fun
Do you know people pay good money to have their gaming consoles modified? Console gamers are not like PC gamers. PC gamers will spend time to learn modifications, consoles gamers don’t waste their time with modification, but they still like it.
So what they do? They pay experts to do the work for them, and you can be that expert. Best of all you can do this from the comfort of your own home.
There are 2 types of modders, first the system modder, where you can alter the capabilities of a console to achieve capabilities beyond their current design.
Then there are cosmetic modders, where you can alter the look of the console. Today we will be focusing on cosmetic modding, as it is a more beginner friendly than the other.
The most common form of modding would be re-shelling, where you replace the housing of the hardware with a custom design shell. I’ve seen custom controllers that light up in the dark, it’s actually kind of insane, and makes me want get a console just to mod it.
So why customers pay?
Modding can be a complicated process. Sometimes the wires are connected to work with the shell of the hardware, so there may be some soldering, maybe welding. Seeing a circuit board and performing mods on it can scare the average person, so they pay a professional to do it.
People don’t want to break their consoles because it will cost more money to replace, and they might be emotionally attached to it. I have a PlayStation 2 that I’ve kept throughout 2/3 of my life and I don’t plan on throwing it away, because I had some of my fondest childhood memories with it, and the last thing I want to do is break it.
